Holly

🇮🇹 Holly di "Colazione da Tiffany" è sempre emblema di dolce trasgressione, per più di mezzo secolo. Quanti sono tuttora affascinati dall'esuberante inquilina, che cerca di vivere il sogno più strambo una volta almeno.

Mi sono divertita perciò a ritirarla in grafite HB e B sul mio sketchbook, guardandola dal mio smartphone. Forse sono una delle poche persone che non ha un suo poster o un tubino nero. Eppure, mi sono sempre resa conto della distanza fra questo personaggio, nato dalla penna di Truman Capote e ispirato dalla figura di Marilyn Monroe, e l'attrice che le ha dato corpo: Audrey Hepburn.

Leggendo infatti "Audrey mia madre", il figlio Luca Dotti racconta come fosse difficile per loro convivere con quell'ingombrante icona. Le differenze tra la dolcezza e semplicità di Audrey in privato e la sregolata voglia di vivere del melanconico personaggio di Holly deve aver pesato molto nel suo rifiuto della popolarità. Di fatto, il figlio non riusciva a riconoscerla in quei panni.

Nel ritrarla, invece, io ho riconosciuto quel guizzo brillante di Sabrina o l'arco curvo delle labbra carnose della principessa Anna, in incognito per le sue vacanze romane, che accenna un sorriso sornione. Forse all'inizio non le somigliava molto; a un certo punto, mi ricordava più Penelope Cruz in "Gli abbracci spezzati" che la Hepburn! 😁 Alla fine, con le ombre e i volumi, ecco che mi è apparsa, vagamente ironica.

Ritrarre un mito, spesso lo spoglia del divismo e concede di scorgere per un istante l'umanità e rinnovare così la sua magia, non credi? ✨

🇬🇧 In "Breakfast at Tiffany's", Holly has always been symbol of sweet transgression, for more than a half century. How many people are still enchanted by the lively girl-next-door, who is looking for the funniest dream to live at the least once.

I enjoyed thence in drawing Holly with graphite HB and B on my sketchbook, looking her picture from my tablet. Probably, I am one of the fews who hasn't got her poster and a black, sheath dress. Though, I realized the distance between this character - invented by Truman Capote and inspired by the figure of Marilyn Monroe - and the actress who embodied: Audrey Hepburn.

Reading "Audrey at Home: Memories of My Mother's Kitchen", his son Luca Dotti tells how difficult was for them to live beside of that cumbersome icon. The distance between the Audrey's tender simplicity in private life and the disordered lust for life of moody Holly should have weighted a lot on her refusal to fame. In any way, even his son couldn't recognize her in that character.

Portraying her, otherwise, I saw her brilliant glance in Sabrina or the full, curvy lips of the princess Anne, in incognito during her Roman Holidays, with a sly smile. At first, maybe the sketch didn't look like; for a while, it looked more like Penelope Cruz in "Broken Embraces" than Hepburn! 😁 Finally, here it came with shadows and volumes, vaguely ironic. 

Portraying a myth often unclothes it off prima-donna attitude and allows for an moment to glimpse humanity. 

So, it can be renewed its magic, don't you think? ✨
