🇮🇹 La mia quarta lezione di Disegno dal Vero era dedicata al Barocco.
Il docente della Scuola Romana dei Fumetti è stato Carlo Labieni. Abbiamo sperimentato la luce delle botteghe di Caravaggio, illuminate dalla luce di diverse candele. Il modello era un nudo maschile e ha sofferto il caldo, la posa prolungata e la tensione dei muscoli che noi dovevamo riprodurre.
Siamo partiti dalla posa scelta: Labieni ha scelto per noi una sorta di Pensatore di Rodin, perché ci voleva dimostrare come chi disegna entri nell'intimità del soggetto e cerchi di carpirne le sensazioni, oltre che la forma e le luci. Sono concorde con questa visione, perché se un'opera racconta qualcosa di invisibile ma reale, allora, si sta facendo arte e non semplicemente studio.
Con la luce delle candele e il supporto in carta da spolvero, è stato difficile adattare l'occhio alla penombra, soprattutto, perché Luglio a Roma è abbagliante! 😅🌞
Labieni ci ha invitato prima ad osservare la figura per due/cinque minuti e poi cominciare a disegnare il più veloce possibile. Bisogna catturare la figura prima di perdere la posa, quindi, si riproduce la massa, la posizione e pochi dettagli, come da dove venga la luce.
Ci ha fatto lavorare con sanguigna, sia matita che pastello e per i volumi con il bianco. Stavolta ho usato prima la mia matita bianca, poi anche il gessetto. Per sfumare, ci ha consigliato un tovagliolo, in modo da ammorbidire una superficie più ampia. Alla fine, avremmo potuto anche bagnare la sanguigna e renderla pittura. Io non ho fatto a tempo, impegnata com'ero a scurire gli spazi negativi e i contorni per esaltare la figura nello sfondo. Potevamo anche sperimentare con fusaggine e carboncini, ma ho scelto il tono su tono.
Solo per poco, alla fine, ha acceso la luce e ha permesso di vedere il risultato. Be', confrontandoci anche fra allievi, il livello del gruppo di Disegno dal Vero è davvero notevole: ognuno ha il suo stile che, però, si sta arricchendo di nuovi punti di vista. 😃 Considero questo fatto estremamente motivante!
A fine lezione, in cinque minuti, sono riuscita a disegnare uno schizzo della posa che stavolta Labieni non ha richiesto di cambiare.

🇬🇧 My fourth lesson of Figure Design dealt with Barocco.
The teacher by Scuola Romana dei Fumetti was Carlo Labieni. We worked with light similar to Caravaggio's style, by candle light. The model was a male and he suffered by keeping the same pose, high temperature in the room, and tension of muscles to allow students to draw them properly.
Carlo Labieni chose for us the pose taken from the Thinker by Rodin, because he wanted us to understand that we step into the intimacy of the subjects, while we're drawing, and we try to catch their feelings beyond the mere figure. I agreed with his point, because if the work tells about something invisible but real, then, it is art and not only analysis and study.
Under the candle light, it wasn't easy to adapt the eye to semi-darkness, also because Rome is dazzling in July! 😅🌞
As we started, Labieni told us to stand still and take two/five minutes looking at the figure, and then we could begin to trace it as fast as we could. It needs to fix the figure before loosing the pose, so we could sketch volume, pose and few details, for example, where the light is coming from.
He made us work with sanguigne, both pencil and soft pastels, with white pastel. I used my white pencil and then the soft pastel too. As blender, he suggested that we should use the paper towel, to smooth a wider surface. At the end, we could also make the sanguigne wet, to watercoloring the sketch. I didn't make on time, being so busy by making darker the contours and the negative spaces to exalt the figure over the background. We could work with fusaggine and charcoal, too, but I decided monocrome.
At last, just for a while, the teacher turned on the light and allowed us to take a look of the result. Well, comparing among students, I think that the level of the group of Figure Design is really noticeable: everyone has got their own style which is actually enriching with new points of view. 😃 I consider this fact extremely encouraging!
At the end of the lesson, in five minutes, I was able to sketch the last pose which, differently from other teachers before, Labieni wanted to be the same for most of our lesson.
